Developing Line Managers to Coach
Increasingly managers are expected to coach staff as part of their skill set. Some have always done this instinctively, others find it difficult to see how they can find time to coach alongside the many demands of delivery on objectives.
Supporting managers to develop coaching skills that can be used to develop individual performance and team delivery is central to Coaching to Solutions.
In order to make coaching an enabling skill, we have developed a model which is specific to the needs of the line manager coach: FAST coaching.
FAST Coaching is developed from the principles of Solution focussed thinking, principles which have been found to be effective in enabling individuals to make significant changes rapidly.
FAST coaching is based on techniques which can be incorporated into daily working life, knowing that they are outcome focussed and will not build dependency on the Manager as the solution provider.
Coaching to Solutions develops Managers who can coach at the moment it is needed, and to the degree which is appropriate, in a number of ways:
